DOGTOWN

My friends know that I do not sleep at night, so receiving a late night text or phone call is not unusual for me. So at 11:15, Thursday night, I receive the following text:  "Lori, I need your email STAT!"

Nee Ner Nee Ner Scotty!
Can I just say that I have met the bestest, most wonderful and thoughtful friends through running.  One of my friends Tara had won a last minute, free entry to the Dogtown Half Marathon, but was unable to use it. She gave it to Isela.  Isela was unable to use it. They put their minds together and contacted the Utah Running Guide director at 11:00 PM, and was somehow able to transfer this to ME!

After a couple of crappy weeks, they knew that this get away was just what I needed.

Winner, Winner, Dogtown Dinner....and I was in!  It was just that simple!

So with less than a 24 hours notice, I packed up and hitched a ride with some friends to St. George.  I had already scheduled to take that Friday off. Jacque was home. I let her sleep in, and was going to give her a ride to school. So I wake her up, and say, "We are headed to St. George, and you are running a 9k with Julie!"  What a super daughter I have, she packed up, and off we went.

At the start of the race, I see this random Hamster!  A Hamster at a Dog race???  Yes, I went and grabbed him by the hand and danced with him over to the start are for the perfect photo op!

I absolutely LOVED this course!  WOW! This one and Snow Canyon are my two favorites.  I enjoyed this one as it was both on paved roads and dirt trails.

So I have been trying to come up with what my New Year's Resolution for 2013 should be.  Yes, I know that it is past New Years! (Last year it took me over a  month to come up one.)  I was thinking that it would be to meet one new person at each race....Well, at this race, I met 3. Polli, Michelle, and Joe.                                                                     What an AWESOME run!  I was not worried about it at all. Had ZERO time to formulate a strategy. And guess what? I was only 3 seconds off of my best time!  HOLY CRAP!  That's the way to do it.
